Biography

I received my M.S. in Civil Engineering from The Polytechnic Institute of Cluj-Napoca (Romania) in 1980.  After working two years as a Professional Engineer, I joined The Polytechnic Institute of Cluj-Napoca as Assistant and Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department.  I returned to school in 1991 to get a M.S. (1993) and a Ph.D (1995) from The University of Iowa.  Since 1995, I am with IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering, The University of Iowa as a postdoctoral Research Scientist (1995-1998) and Research Engineer (1998- present).  At IIHR my main interest focused on experimental hydraulics and fluid mechanics.  A natural extension of my research activity began in 1997 when I got involved in instruction as coordinator of the College of Engineering Fluids Laboratory (www.engineering.uiowa.edu/fluidslab) and instructor for Experimental Methods in Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer (53:172/58:162).
