KSC, here we come!

Here was our Titusville, FL hotel we reserved and would be staying at later for the next couple of days.

"Police Officer of the Month"....hmmmm, what would they base that decision on?

Astronaut Hall of Fame

Our first glimpse of the Vehicle Assembly Building(VAB)

Just outside of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Complex.

The world's only back-to-back IMAX theaters.

Astronaut Memorial. Very moving. I won't lie... I had to wipe a tear out of my eye.

Godspeed STS-107.

This "is a tribute to American men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice believing the conquest of space is worth the risk of life."

Oh yeah! One day and counting.

Space Shuttle Explorer. Never made it to space, but it's a hell of a mock-up.

Tight fit in the airlock.

I think that might have actually been a real satellite at some point in the cargo bay.

Hmmm, that tile in the rudder needs some fixing.

Okay, so the External Tank was this big.

Rocket Garden.

Gemini capsule

Apollo moon suit. Pretty sweet outfit. I'd look so sexy in this, I'd have to run from the women chasing me. Now that I think about it, that would be pretty hard to do in this suit.

Astronaut Winston Scott.

More of the rocket garden. The one on it's side is a Saturn 1B.

My Hero! Steve Robinson runs through the complex late to a meeting. I caught up with him and asked for a picture. "Tell you what? I have to goto a briefing... in fact I'm already late. How about after I'm done with that?" So I got blown off by him, but at least he talked with me. Possibly the highlight of my trip.

Our tour guide for the NASA up-close tour.

This is the operations and checkout building. This is where the astronauts stay during quarentine.

This is where the astronauts come out with their suits and load up into the silver astrovan to head out to the pad.

A crawler sits outside the VAB.

Another crawler sits outside of the VAB. With a full load, this thing get like a yard per gallon of gas.

This is the platform a shuttle is stacked on. Note the cut-outs in it for the SRB and space shuttle main engine exhaust.

The crawlers get under this, lift it up and carry it into the VAB for shuttle stacking operations.

Launch control room, which is attached to the VAB.

If you look closely, you can see the solid rocket boosters for Atlantis peeking out.
