The aim of the project is for you to work in-depth to develop an application or a detailed evaluation of the state of the art in a particular area. This is a demanding aspect of the course and you need to make sure that you devote enough time and effort to the project

bulletYou will work individually or in groups of maximum TWO and will then be graded as a group.
bulletYou will need to develop and maintain a public web site to give the status of your project.
bulletAs always initiative will be highly regarded.

Project Proposal

This should be limited to one page single space (usual font size and margins) and should contain:

  1.  The problem you will be addressing
  2. An overall plan of your application or review
  3. The address of your web site.

An initial web site should be established. This needs to be on a site accessible on the public Internet -- a site on CSS is suitable. This will be the informational web site and will usually be on a CSS web site. Note that the actual project web site will often be different from this, since ASPs and other server side programming is not available on CSS. For an application web site, the actual project web site will need to be in the ALF Lab.

Grade: Proposal 2%   Initial informational web site 1%

Report

Each report should be contained on your project web site containing all the details of the project. An additional optional written project report should be limited to 20 pages double space. The grades will be allocated as follows:

Project Report 24% Presentation 3%

For your final project report  please make sure that you:

  1. Have a web site that adequately describes your project and results. Make sure that the web site adequately conveys the depth and breadth of your work. Include any Java or other program you may have written. Include ALL source code and all files.

  2. Where necessary you may need to hand in a written report.

  3. The project web site is due July 28 at 3 pm CST - don't be late! NOTE LATE FEE: 15% of grade per day or part of day late. Remember that this  needs to be completely accessible by the instructor -- a site on an ALF computer is suitable.

  4. Make sure you e-mail the URL of the site by July 28  at 3pm.
