| 6/3 | To start, it helps to obtain some feel for how your computer communicates through the Internet. Use the following Command Prompt functions: netstat (to identify ports in use), ipconfig (to determine IP address), ipconfig /all and tracert www.bbc.com (to track a packet to it's destination). You can access the command prompt from Start | Programs | Accessories (depends on how you have XP configured) or from Start | Run and then type in cmd. |
