Project 1 Project Planning
The Due Date is Monday October 22 at 5 pm for Section 3 and Tuesday October
23 at 5 pm for Section 4. Project 1 should be submitted as a single Word
file. E-mail as an attachment to to the class e-mail account

You will need to form teams of 3 - 4. All team members MUST be from the same
section.

Remember that a highly professional standard is required.
Give sources for any drawings etc.
Your task in this homework is to produce:
A. A project plan
- Gantt chart listing tasks, duration of tasks and relationships among
tasks. Include activities of each team member. Remember that gaining the
most from team work means dividing up the tasks.
- Major milestones (measurable accomplishments/completion date).
- Schedule for meetings with team & TAs (include on Gantt chart).
- A short written description of the project plan.
The activities covered should include all those up to and including the end
of the prototype demonstrations in early December. The web pages on the
project and
project report contain relevant
information.
The Gantt chart will involve using Excel with shading and patterns to show
activities of different team members and shapes from the drawing toolbar to
show more precise dates.
Grades will be awarded based on the quality and depth of the plan.
B. A review of existing designs
You will need to use your initiative to dig out some existing designs. Give
an overview of the designs and classify them where possible. What are the
advantages and disadvantages of each category?
Grades will be awarded based on the quality and depth of the examination of
existing designs and on the comparisons made.
