Q: I always thought that the units for measuring temperature in the "metric" system were degrees Centigrade or Celsius. How is that different from Kelvin, the temperature scale in the CGS and SI systems?
A: The Kelvin scale uses "absolute zero" as the starting point of its scale, whereas the Centigrade/Celsius system uses the freezing point of water as the zero point of its scale.
