Computer software used in course
- LINDO linear programming solver
- LINGO modeling language for optimization
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- APL+Win3.5 workspaces

- Student versions of LINDO & LINGO can be downloaded from
the web site of LINDO Systems--
these can solve LP problems with up to 150 constraints and 300
variables, including up to 30 integer variables. LINDO is also
available on the engineering college's UNIX workstations. Click
here
for a short tutorial on its use.
- APL is an interactive
interpreted computer language including very concise and powerful
mathematical functions, oriented toward processing of arrays.
An APL workspace is a file containing both APL code and
variables.
- Various APL workspaces are
available for use on Windows computers. These workspaces perform
functions such as evaluating probability distribution functions,
analyzing discrete-time and continuous-time Markov chains, queueing
models, etc. (In order to use an APL workspace, you must have
downloaded also the APL runtime interpreter from the same page.)
- Most of the documents are available from this web site in
PDF format, which requires Adobe's Acrobat Reader. This
is loaded on the computers in the Engineering College labs, or
can be downloaded from Adobe's
web site.
