Attendance and Participation Policy

Students are expected to attend, on time,  class sessions. If you miss class you are responsible for obtaining the notes and the assignments. Additionally, students will be asked to participate in class discussions. Problems will be worked in class  sessions, so please bring your textbook. Being late to class is not considered professional behavior.

Homework

Homework is assigned but not collected or graded. Solutions will be available to the students. It is  responsibility of the students to make sure that they can complete the homework and this will be tested in quizzes and exams.

Assignments and Homework

Students are expected to read the scheduled chapters and perform the problem sets assigned prior to class.

Late Assignments

A late fee of 10% of the grade is imposed for each day (or part of a day) that an assignment  is late. No grade is awarded if the work is submitted after the solutions have been posted on the web (duh!).

Quizzes and Exams

A quiz will be given at class on scheduled dates and will cover the material since the last quiz, including work done in class and homework. Calculators may not be allowed in some quizzes or exams. Two exams will be given. The exams will test the student's overall understanding of the concepts and processes presented in the book, in homework  and in lectures. The lowest score on the quizzes will not count towards the course grade.

It is however, acceptable for students to help each other on their homework as long as students do not copy each other's work. Be especially careful of plagiarism.
