Data Acquisition and Reduction Methodology
- For the phase-averaged flowfield tests,
carriage speed Uc, ship model motions (x, y,
z, f, q,
y), PMM sway and yaw, and instantaneous
flowfield velocities (U, V, W) are measured.
- Data reduction equations for the SPIV
system are taken from Willert (1997) for expression of the 3D displacement
field from the two, projected, planar displacement fields.
- Casting these equations into a final
form that accounts for the stereo calibration is ongoing and will eventually
enable a formal uncertainty assessment of the phase-averaged flowfield
results.
