Problem #2
Converting Point-Valued Data to Mean-Valued Data

The following hydrologic data sample contains point-valued (or instantaneously measured) streamflow rate (in cfs) at midnight on each day shown:

Time (day)

0

1

2

3

4

5

6

Streamflow (cfs)

100

500

2000

3000

1500

Use this information to do the following:

  1. Create a figure (with a figure number and caption) of the point-valued streamflow rate data (in cfs). [Note: If you use Excel, choose a Scatter Chart Type. Use a line to connect the data points.]
  2. Compute the streamflow volume (in cfs-days) for each day from the point-valued data.
  3. Create a figure (with a figure number and caption) of the mean-valued streamflow volume data (in cfs-days). [Note: If you use Excel, choose a 2-D Column Chart Type.]
