• some numbers one needs to know:

(1) gage factor: dR/R/dL/L = sensitivity of the gage

(2) transverse sensitivity, Kt; see figure

(3) Resistance (typical 120 ohm)

• metallic foil - typical gage factor = 2
• semiconductor - high gage factor (~200), nonlinear output
• in general, a Wheaston-Bridge circuit is used for measurement
