Lab 1: Exploring Wireless Sensor Network Hardware

I demonstrate different components and tools: radios, Crossbow Technologies motes, compilers, etc. Some TinyOS applications are compiled and demonstrated.

Lab 3: Programming IIHR's Wireless Sensor Nodes and Building a Small but Functional Wireless Sensor Network

Lab 4: Topics Proposed by Students

Group 1 wrote a simulator for exploring the effect of RSSI on connectivity in a WSN. Simulations were then run on a cluster computer in the ECE department.
Group 2 designed their own sensor net routing algorithm, they implemented this and the Gabriel planerization algorithm and then programmed a number of IIHR's wireless nodes to build a complete wireless sensor network. (Report, 120 KB, PDF)
Group 3 wrote code to implement Grabriel planarization, and a standalone program for demonstrating how its works, and supplemented this with Matlab routines to display the network topology before and after planerization.
Group 4 wrote code to implement perimeter routing and driver routines for demonstrating how its works, and supplemented this with Matlab routines to visualize network nodes and paths.
Group 5 did a field investigation of signal strength for cellular phones that are used in a wireless sensor network at selected sites in Johnson County. The did a statistical analysis of the data (ANOVAs) exploring interactions between sites, antennas, high above ground etc. (Report 200 KB, PDF)
