Sessions Planned for the Future: - Sessions and workshops are being planned for the 2002 Structures Congress V. Other activities (type of activities, action completed or planned) A. Completed during FY00 (10/99 - 9/00) - SEI/ASCE Policy for Committee Web Pages We have completed and submitted to Barry Noland a draft policy on Web pages for committee activities in SEI/ASCE. - Recruitment During the last year we have recruited and accepted four new committee members. - Committee Web Page (ongoing) We have a World Wide Web page that describes the mission of the committee and its associated activities. The URL for this page is: http://www4.ncsu.edu/~jwb/ect/ - Interaction with European Community (ongoing) In 2000 Ian Smith will report to the ECT committee on structural engineering and computing activities in Switzerland. Smith, a member of ECT, also represents the European Group for Structural Engineering Applications of AI, EG-SEA-AI (~60 persons). ECT and EG-SEA-AI are continuing to explore opportunities for joint activity. B. Planned for FY01 - see item VI. C. Planned for the future VI. Plans for the Future (goals, areas of opportunity, etc.) - Continued recruitment Although four members been added to the committee in the last year, membership is still a concern. Of our 15 members, 9 have terms that expire in FY00. Also, the officer structure is undergoing some change: this is an election year for a new secretary, with existing officers rotating up and out. Unfortunately, Meg Neggers, current vice-chair, will not be able to assume the committee chair because of new responsibilities at home and a change in professional direction. Therefore, Elisa Sotelino, current secretary, will move into the chair position, and elections will be held for vice-chair and secretary. John Baugh, current chair, will assume the past-chair position if his term can be further extended. If not, he will continue to support the committee in an informal role until he can officially rejoin the committee a year later. VII. List activities that have been delayed or tabled due to lack of funding. - None.
