Class Project (2025)



Spring 2025:

The students will be required to partially follow the analysis conducted in Stern et al. (2024) to obtain the turbulence characteristics starting from the raw timeseries data of the flow at different points in the 4DPTV volume, as shown in Figure below.

The students are provided the data used in Stern et al. (2024) to validate their code (Section 6 in the instructions). Micro/Macroscales, RSS, and anisotropy analysis results are available. 

The students are provided a MATLAB/Python code to evaluate the FFT of the temporal autocorrelation. The students are provided Python code for the generation of the Lumley triangle, Invariant Map, and Reynolds stresses ellipsoid.
