Homework #1: Essay on the History of VR
Write a 2-page (approximately), double-spaced essay on the history of Virtual
Reality, working to synthesize the viewpoints of the two readings.
Don't try to summarize all the material in the works. Instead,
make a claim, or form a hypothesis, about something in the history
of Virtual Reality that interests you and support this claim with
material from the readings. You are welcome to find other material
to support your viewpoint from other sources, but avoid making
arbitrary claims and unsubstantiated remarks without providing
evidence to back up your point.
Your grade will be based on:
The clarity of the point you wish to argue: 25%
Support for the point garnered from the readings and from other material: 25%
The clarity of exposition: 25%
Grammar and spelling: 25%
The assignment is due, as an email attachement (MS Word preferred),
to Geb-Thomas@uiowa.edu, by 5:00 pm, Wednesday, 9/04/02.
