56:271 Nonlinear Programming

Fall Semester 2003

• APL
  An introduction to APL will give students a working knowledge of this programming language; APL programs provided by the instructor (and in some cases by the student) will be used for homework and "numerical laboratory exercises".
• "APL*PLUS II" is available on the HP-UX workstations and Windows. See also:
  • "APL on the HP-UX Workstations"
  • APL software for OR, a collection of runtime versions of various operations research models and algorithms. The APL runtime interpreter must also be downloaded.
• LINGO Optimization software which includes a modeling language, LP solver, Mixed-integer LP solver, and nonlinear programming solver. A free student version can be downloaded from the vendor's website.
• XPRESS-MP Optimization software which includes a modeling language (Mosel), LP solver, and mixed-integer LP solver. The complete system, with Windows interface (IVE), will be available on the College of Engineering's network. A free student version can be downloaded from the vendor's website.
